Drupal & Commons making a difference in the world

I was chatting with the team at Halabol in India. I have spent a lot of time over the past 5 years in India and the rate of change is astounding, Drupal Commons is playing a part.  Halabol has deployed a Drupal Commons site for social action in India.  You can set up campaigns, petitions, pledges , debates and promote social changing events.  It is a Commons site and has included rewards/gamification.  You can redeem activity points with socially considered rewards.  

India is witnessing a growing sensitization in its citizens regarding the need for a change. More and more citizens are willing to challenge the status quo and take required actions to bring about the desired social change. They are restrained from contributing for the lack of proper medium or tools to direct their efforts or resources towards their social objectives.

Halabol is a platform that gives you the opportunity to take that step forward and make the effort needed towards the change you wish to see. It allows you to deliver as an individual; motivates you to gather support, build your team of change makers and and even exhibits how you can join other teams to join other causes & issues surrounding our country.

There are certainly many different projections on the number of Drupal sites worldwide.  It is nice sometimes to reflect on all the good this is providing in the World!
