Refreshing Scope & Targets of this Community

Terms:

Commons Logo Hi All, Just questioning myself what's going on lately on this community. You All may notice that a lot of groups where closed and the posting frequency are going really down. On the front page there is not clear statement that this site due to some task targets and goals to commons development did drive the slowing down of interest to continue to follow up posting here.

 Front pubished Groups also closed:

 For example:

  1.  Porting Commons to D7
  2.  Transferring to Drupal Commons issue queue on default Drupal.org (BTW Commons Drupal.org Project Logo could be updated)
  3.  Transition from being developed in the Acquia GitHub repository and being developed entirely in the Drupal.org repository.

And some others.

  1. Of course all groups post are still viewable and also (I guess) for now we can still contribute new one, but I think this confuse some newcomer?
  2. I would suggest to the Acquia Drupal Commons Team and of course who else may wnat to contribute to review some main very interestng posts and reorganize by argument! Or is this out of the scope of Acquia?
  3. What do you think?
  4. Or may be better to build on Drupal.org Handbook a section dedicated to "COMMONS"?

It definitely adds confusion

It definitely adds confusion for many Commons users, especially new ones. It did for me.

The community contributions on commons.acquia.com have significantly dropped and any new Commons adopters may find this as a lack of (community and official) support and be turned away from the product because of this. IMO, the current state of this site is not a very good example of what Commons can do and be.

I've found myself lately browsing the issues log just to stay current and unfortunately the IRC channel is idle most of the time.

A handbook on Drupal.org would be good, but I feel like having commons.acquia.com as the primary source for support and interaction to be best. This would help everyone get familiar with Commons and essentially make us daily Commons users and not just administrators and/or developers.
