Drupal Commons Hosting

Hi,
This post on MySQL issues has made me think of alternative hosting providers for Drupal Commons. I know Acquia provides hosting but my requirements are not very high (support for 100-200 users) so I'm looking for a good and cheaper hosting provider for Drupal Commons. Any recommendation?
Regards,
Igor.

Hosts for Drupal Commons
It seems that Linode (quality host, not expensive, good for experts) and Hot Drupal (more expensive but managed, easier) are quite popular among Drupalers. But there are many, many hosts that can be OK for Drupal and Drupal Commons. See for example drupal.org's Drupal hosting section. Acquia is listed there as "managed, enterprise and high traffic hosting", another use case.
To have enough resources for the many modules included in Drupal Commons (PHP memory limit, etc.), it's probably advisable to use at least a VPS, rather than shared hosting.
Thanks for the information, I
Thanks for the information, I haven't made the choice yet but I have some candidates already.
How about Site5.com
How about that hosting? Any comments?
Thanks,

Hotdrupal
Hi,
I finally opted for Hotdrupal hosting. They provide VPS hosting shared with few users and it's working fine for the moment, better than the previous shared hosting.

How difficult was it to transfer your account info? I am interested in starting a thread, so that people can discuss the hosting options at different business stages: pure curiosity (it can be very slow), giving the idea a go, some other levels and finally a full blown high traffic site. So that people can try different business ideas and let the unsuccessful ones just not escalate in the hosting scheme.
Thanks,
JP

What I did was register a new domain and redirect the old one, eventually I will transfer the domain completely. With regard to the transfer of the site I backed up the database and the site folder and uploaded it to the new site running install.php afterwards and changing db settings in settings.php. It was easier than expected, two hours work.
Thanks for the info.

Site 5. WOW THAT IS A PLACE TO STAY AWAY FROM>
My recent encounter with the COMPANY CALLED ("SITE 5"} . For customer service - 0. I just going to say this. You get what you pay for. SITE 5 - customer support is non exist. I went and sign up to give them folks a try. The worst choice I could had ever made. I request certain products to be on my VPS. And that came out bad, tried to call there listed number for customer service... was on hold ten minutes then it drops you in a voice message box. All support is online chatting boxes. I encounter them for a little over 36 hours trying to get a few thing settup on the account. All support was from out side the US. It is a site for hosting NIGHT MARE. RATING FOR OVER ALL -0. out of ten. It's was truely a night mare of a time trying to get anyone to do any thing. There customer service is just that some one in either india or phillenies. They can not due anything except to put in a ticket and say that it will be taken care of in a few hours, which turns into like 24 hours.
SO for who is with them, SITE5 is BAD NEWS IN HOSTING. PERIOD.
Moved this to..
.. the Commons Neighborhood group. I'd like to keep the "Documentation" group fairly focused on how you use Commons. While finding a hosting provider is important, it's at a more basic "Drupal" level (vs. Commons-level), and so I think it's not best suited for this group.
Let me know if you object.
Totally agree
Thanks Mike.
Aquia Hosting vs Amazon AWS Vs ???
Hi,
Anybody done any research on the pricing/value differences for Aquia vs Amazon, vs VPS? If so, what did you end up going with?
Thanks!
