Need help with site questions..noob

Hello and thanks for your time. What I want seems simple to me in theory, but not in making it work! :-)

We want visitors to be able to sign up for a ONE TIME membership fee to grant them access to the site where they can upload photos and video galleries. I want the signup to be quick and painless. Just a few steps. We are only going to use google checkout. But want them to have a way to determine if only friends can view their page or anyone can. We then want them to be able to choose a theme based on their personal preference. Kind of like myspace used to do. Or like twitter does now on selecting a background. We plyaed with buddypress and it gave them the option right under the stream to choose their privacy, but none of its payment options would allow google checkout. Our main home page is setup in wordpress, with a link to our subdomain that will handle drupal. I hope I have expalined this enough. The main thing is ease of memership signup and photo and video gallery upload ability. the rest is just perks. thanks,
