First Release of a Basic Idea Management Feature

Hi all,

We have configured a basic idea management feature integrated into the Commons menu structure that uses the vote up/down module. It's basically a new content type, a view and a menu item. It's a very initial version but please take time to test it and give me your feedback. It's a .tar file that you should unzip, upload it to the sites/all/modules folder and activate it from the module list or the feature list.

What is basic idea management feature

Thanks, but I did not understand what it does. I have installed, but I see only the new idea content type.

If everything works fine

The feature should it add a content type, a menu item and view. The content type has some predefined fields for idea management, a primary link menu item and a view. The view is displayed when you click the Ideas menu item and it should display a list of ideas for the groups you belong to allowing you to vote on each of them. I had some issues with the menu item due to the known bug with primary link menu item dissappearing. More information here and a workaround here.

Problem installing your module

hello,

I'm very interested by this module and that was making part of one suggestion I made few month ago for this feature.

But i've a problem. I can't install it because it ask for Vud Module and Vud_Node. I saw a page for Vud on drupal.org but there is no module to download. is there another place for this?

New version of the feature

Hi all,

I have uploaded a new version of the feature to the original post (just removed the previous attachment and added a new one). The main problem with this feature is the menu. Due to a known bug the menu items are rebuilt so if new menu items are added to primary links they dissapear or are relocated. There two workarounds shared in the community so far (http://commons.acquia.com/discussion/bug-customizing-primary-links). In the previous version we didn't update the strongarm variable so the voting widget didn't appear in the view neither, this has been solved. With regard to the menu, a new menu has been created in order to overcome the menu item dissapearing issue but this menu has to be activated in site building->menus->options as explained in the workaround of the previous link. We'll be extending this feature with new functionalities, so any suggestion is more than welcome. For the coming versions we'll use Drupal.org to upload the feature or the module built on it.
