I'm just making a simple table with all of the current modules in the DC package as of the 1.4 release, so people can get a better handle on where the D7 migration might be.

Will the Commons version available in Drupal 7?

Will the Commons version available in Drupal 7? And, will Acquia have an auto-upgrade from version 6 to 7 by then?

The reason is that there are many of us here have or are about to use Commons to power their community site, how will this be supported moving forward (for version 7)?

It's probably a little too soon to tell

As you see above, as of 11 March 2011 there are lots of modules that do not even have a D7 version, and many other important ones (Panels, ..) are still in alpha or beta status.

My gut tells me a D7 commons will appear sometime in Q3 of 2011.

We (Acquia and hopefully the community) will try to make the D6 > D7 upgrade as painless as possible, doing as much coding to make it automatic as we can. Note, however, that we cannot (yet) guarantee that we can accomplish it completely automatically; there are too many modules where we don't know what the upgrade path will look like. Plus, remember that if you create custom modules of your own, you will be responsible for the D6 > D7 migration of those.

Tagging will have a drupal 7 port if $950 can be raised for the maintainer to do so.

I assume..

Shoutcast has be deprecated by facebook-style statuses I assume?

If this is the case, @IceCreamYou has released the stable 6.x-3.x and is working on the drupal 7 port.

Yup, and..

.. @IceCreamYou is sitting right next to me in my office all summer this summer here at Acquia as an intern, working full-time on these modules. We are happy to have been able to give him a great internship time to be able to focus fully on this work.

There is actually still a bit to do / commit before the D6 versions are fully ready for prime-time. These will be hopefully stable in a few days when we start the Beta for Version 2.0.

Yes, he's started D7, but D6 has to be stable before he does any more D7 development, since

Tagging is being ported to

Tagging is being ported to drupal 7 this week, @EugenMayer received funding for this from Compress and Lukow, two german companies.
